I have utmost respect for two very distinguished literary greats, one is Munshi Prem Chand , the ultimate novelist and story teller of all time and other is Sri Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Somehow, both of them lead their lives to greatness through ultimate hardship. All I can say is they were the true heroes of Indian literature and nation will be forever indebted for their contribution .

This was also a personal tribute to a father from his son and I felt it was very close to my heart. It reminded me of my own father, I had tears in my eyes reading it because it felt as if it was me talking about my father with ultimate love affection and respect that a son could offer. My dad loved to write, his writings were simple things that happened in day to day life and then will discuss them with us. They were the true inspirational work for us and that we cherish them even now. Both my mom and dad had huge collection of books and now that precious inheritance passed to us to preserve them because when your loved ones leave for eternity, their legacy is the only thing that one could preserve for them. We are planning to make a personal library in home to showcase those books and when you mentioned the Garuda that your dad made out of stone and you so proudly keep at your home entrance, This almost reminded me of our tribute to our parents that we plan to have with the library.

Great family values that we inculcate in our lives are what we learn from our parents. I have always found my parents my ultimate inspiration and when I see you talking about your dad so fondly , I immediately feel a close connection with you.

Just to let you know, my mom’s birthday was also 11th October and she was very proud for the fact that she shared her birthday with you. Now she is not with us anymore but I am glad now I have a medium through I could share it with you, something so close to my heart.

I will like to end it with a very beautiful poem from Sri Bachchan Jee ..

With love and respect ..
Rajeev

Letter to Amitabh -Day 34(iii)

http://blogs.bigadda.com/ab/2008/05/22/day-34iii

“But in the real world, Mr Pant, I don’t just take it on the chin. I have my own doubt about calling it prestigious. I see the best use of this newspaper at the end of the month when Raddiwallah around. Atleast one could make some quick buck by selling them ,5/Kg or 6 at times .

Never heard of Yamini Lohia and don’t intend to either but I am sure she will have tough getting even another job. I really applaud you for putting these journos to their places. Forever since I remember they were going scot-free, making their own stories and seliing to people without even bothering to check the truth or otherwise behind them. Freedom of press doesn’t at any cost means abuse of this freedom. I think it’s a new beginning and creditability of a journalist will be severely tested in WEB 2.0 and those failing will need to find a new job .

Ms Yamini, let us know hows the job search going on. I dont think there was any need for an apology just because you put your interview in the blog first. Given that media is never straight with you , you should simply insist that your interview will be first carried in the blog , now its for media to take it or leave it .

It was in fact way too arrogant for media to be blunt and tell you that your interview wont be printed. Why it came down to this level when you needed to issue the rejoinder is cause of huge concern and one could understand power or at some level blackmailing tactics media exerts to people of even your eminence.

I think Indian media is still very immature, cant look beyond their own nose and have very skewed view on everything. Not that ordinary people are fool enough to believe everything media says. An ordinary person will still give credence to what Amitabh bachchan says rather than what someone in idiot box is telling nonstop. I requested you earlier and even now , ban media , don’t entertain them anymore because they don’t deserve. Or atleast , be very selective with media. If you are aware that TOI or CNN IBN deliberately spread lies , whats the point of wasting your time with them .

That way , your well wishers wont bother about what they are telling , neither will you be wasting your time and energy and we will be able to listen more thought provoking, more inspirational matters from Amitabh Bachchan .

Wish you always the best
Rajeev

Letter to Amitabh - Day 27

http://blogs.bigadda.com/ab/2008/05/13/day-27/
Dear Amitabh Jee

Media’s fascination with your blog is astonishing. I must have stood up among crowd, at least at that particular moment, to be one of the special persons that Amitabh Bachchan personally took time to identify in his blog ! It feels incredible; not surreal but gives me a sense of being close to you. It’s like when my mom hugged me when I got selected into engineering and a great new future started beckon upon to the road of success. It gives a meaning to the whole life and I am feeling the inspiration that you bestowed on me by naming in your blog.

I think I can go on and on about it but you perfectly understand the elation I am going through and I will keep the rest to myself. Never too articulate with words though I wish I could imbibe this trait from you. I always wanted to write something, believed there was a writer inside me but it didn’t materialize until I started interacting through you. Now I have my own blog and I am storing all my message to you here, it will be an honor if you visit here http://rrajeev.blogspot.com/

Coming back to your write up today, I am really happy that you are giving back your critics with the same coin. There were so many moments earlier when I wished I knew what Amitabh felt after hearing so and so accusation. Hows it right for someone, be it media or anyone else, to throw dirt and expect golden silence in return? That’s why I don’t agree when many of the users here ask you to continue what they call “dignified silence” on any issue concerning you. After all it’s the media who’s starting the accusation and two can indeed play the game if it comes down to protecting one’s integrity and self respect and bring the truth to general public.

It was great to see scenes from your new movie! Aakhri Raasta immediately comes into the mind after seeing the stills . It reminded me of Kabhi Alvida Na Kahna shooting that you and rest of the crew had in New York. I have quite a few photos of similar type, including those of your scenes.

Amazing to think I have seen you from very close and now you know me, whatever the tiny moment it was when you wrote my name!

Dreams do come true, don’t they !

My best wishes and regards, always

Rajeev

Letter to Amitabh - Day 24

http://blogs.bigadda.com/ab/2008/05/10/on-location-pix/

Dear Amitabh Jee
I just came back watching Bhoothnath , I had to watch it because it had you and to tell you in one word, I simply loved the film. Inadvertently I had read KHALIDA’s review in the morning and I was actually wishing you give him a proper kick in backside in today’s blog and you did , it simply made a very delightful reading !

I think this movie is for all ages even if the prominent character apart from you is a child. I don’t think this movie is preaching or otherwise the existence of ghost ( bhoot). I don’t look it that way , it’s a story of a noble soul ditched by his own son gets solace from a little child and it’s a emotional ,very touching movie and I am sure families will love this movie. After a long while I saw a movie crowd consisting of whole family and not just boys or girls and that’s the best thing of this movie.

This movie touches the core of Hindu belief , especially the one related to Shraddh and the filmmaker has full right to express it through this wonderful story and I will be really angry if anyone uses this as a backdrop to sneer and jeer the film. A film is at some level is reflective of the society we live in, customs and traditions we believe in. One has complete authority to ignore it, its well within his/her democratic rights, but then I have my right to choose what I believe in. As long as a thought or custom not imposed on you forcibly, you have choice to take it or leave it , but you have no right to mock it.

It’s a story if typical Indian home, where when we lose our near and dear ones , we always believe they are around us to comfort us in our moment of grief and are with us in our moment of happiness. I have personally gone through these and one of the reasons why I simply loved this movie, our relationship don’t end with our loved ones when they leave us for eternity, it only makes the bond even more stronger.

Another special moment of the film is when your character , Bhootnath encourages the kid to work doubly hard when he was losing in sports event , I think there was a dialogue of this effect like “only magic in sports is the hard work “ . Its true in any walk of life as well .

And Amitabh jee , a little trivia for you and if you are reading it , you pause for a moment and reply. When was the last time when not yours but another character’s name in your movie was Vijay ? If I am right , it has to be Kabhie Kabhi when Shashi Kapoor’s name was Vijay , Am I right ?

I don’t know why but my respect for you has only enhanced after this movie. There is something extraordinary noble about you that makes you a role model for young generation to follow and people in your generation to admire.

As Karan would say, its all about loving your parents, very true !

Rajeev
Believe it or not , KBC succeeded only because it had Amitabh Bachchan .

Also, KBC was first of its kind in India so there was a curiosity in general public about it, people had a chance to personally meet Amitabh Bachchan and that added to super success of it .

But I wondered then and even wondering now, why is it that we always need to rely on an American show to succeed? Why is that we cant plan and make our own shows? TV channels offering crore rupees to contestants cant spend some time and money and do some brainstorming , bring to public a unique show which has Indian bearing ? Are you smarter than 5th grader didn’t shake the world in US but we are happily copying it ( with permission of course ! ) . Now power of 10 is going to become 10 ka dam and fear factor will have some hindi name too ( Khatron ke khiladi I heard ) .

I only hope if you do any game show, you demand from producers that it shouldn’t be “inspired” from a western show, it should have its origin very much in India and let western world copy it for once

Hope you agree with this
Best regards
Rajeev

Letter to Amitabh - Day 21

http://blogs.bigadda.com/ab/2008/05/07/day-21/

Dear Amitabh Jee
As usual it was a pleasure to go through your message. Media will desperately try all its trick to stop you from writing this blog because they no longer can sell their misinformation to gullible public. So be prepared to hear more desperate noise from them , it will be fun though as we all know what they are upto .

So you will hear more comments like poll oversensitive Amitabh , phone lines are open , sms Y to 66626 if you agree and sms N if you don’t. More than learning I should say it’s reinforcing my views on something that I was dithering earlier. We all go through in our daily life where we see abuse in public and apology in private in abundance and we kind of accept it but now I will go back and say , why accept this double standard ? One should stand by what one says if one truly believes in that , or own up to your statement and apologize in the same way you made allegation. If you know you are wrong.

Of course, dignified silence is only worth it’s value if your silence is not taken as your weakness or acceptance of a fault. In today’s world its better one clarifies one’s stand or seeks clarification when needed and I am glad Jaya aunty and you believe in that , its really needed in today’s world.

On the lighter note , I still remain one of those who expect one day you will be in screen without beard Its absolutely your decision and it may never come and its fine, but it doesn’t hurt to request, does it ?
On the question of request, I have one to make to you. I love to extract entire soundtrack of your movies ( dialogue and songs) from a dvd and then play it in my ipod for my private listening , just the sound track. I have only one movie missing that I am still looking for , your triple role movie , Mahaan. I wonder if I could get its dvd from somewhere . I have tried and tried very hard but havent found it, still looking … May be perhaps you could help

Once again, I take it as a great opportunity to interact with you , its favorite moment of my day.

With best regards, as always
Rajeev

Letter to Amitabh - Day 10

http://blogs.bigadda.com/ab/2008/04/26/day-10/

Dear Amitabh Jee
Like everyone I am also glued to your blog everyday . Everyday after coming back home from work, first thing I do is to start the net and check your blog ( yes it’s my homepage by now ! )
I know you read each and every message personally and know you are reading this too and this itself is the happiest moment of my life. Mr Amitabh Bachchan reading my message itself is a moment to cherish forever .

All I expect in return is to learn something my idol, imbibe his great virtues and learn to be like him. You have an amazing gift of expressing your thoughts straight to someone’s mind and heart and This is something I will like to learn from you .

I take this opportunity to thank you for being with us , cant expect anything more

With best wishes always
Rajeev

Letter to Amitabh - day 9

http://blogs.bigadda.com/ab/2008/04/26/day-9/

Dear Amitabh Jee
Is it just not amazing just to think that we could get the direct insight of Amitabh Bachchan’s mind and share his thoughts, the more I think , the more I believe how privileged we are for this and I am sure we all will learn a great deal from this wonderful experience .

I do agree with your thoughts that if you not necessarily subscribe to a particular politician’s agenda , that doesnt really mean you should disassociate yourself from him as long as he is not riding his politics in your name. Friendship is like what you and Shatrughan Sinha had in earlier part of movie dostana, where two people are friends irrespective of their professions , where one doesnt interfere in other person’s profession and that’s the way it should be.

Coming back to Shatrughan Sinha, I think it was time you gave him a fitting reply, especially with respect to his irresponsible comments about the IIFA awards. He is prone to changing his statements to suit the moment, his recent statements where he kind of subscribed to “ bhumi putra “ controversy has hurted a lot of people who looked upon him especially since he is from Bihar. I was not aware but I don’t think people return mithai and shagun even from enemies especially if it’s a pious occasion of wedding.

I am reminded of poem from Sri Harivansh Rai Bachchan jee , this is something we read in school but I think it still guides you the right way to live life :

best regards , as always
Rajeev

Letter to Amitabh - Day -8i

http://blogs.bigadda.com/ab/2008/04/24/day-8i/

Dear Amitabh Jee
I have grown up watching your movies starting from perhaps Sholay and Deewar when I was too young even to watch the movie but went nevertheless with my parents . As time passed , I realized quickly that being your fan was the only way one could get acceptance among friends and the magic of your movies still continue in my heart. We all prayed when you had that fatal coolie accident and may God give you long and prosperous healthy and many more decades in Hindi films .

I actually had the opportunity to see you in person when you were in New York for Kabhi Alvida Na Kahna shooting and the scene was in front of the court house where You and Kiran Kher first catch Shahrukh and Rani together and then you put a hand on her shoulder just to console her . I had to catch that once in a lifetime moment in my camera and its my priceless possession !

Coming to Indian media, they are learning the art of news making so you should just forgive them. No one takes them seriously anyway with kind of news mongering activity they are in .
I have one desire, may be someday ( and perhaps sooner than later) you should be on screen without the beard , like old Amitabh we know. Sometimes I still search Amitabh I knew in your new movies because of your change of appearance .

best regards always
Rajeev
